graham cracker

POSTED SATURDAY AM 6/28/07

Mom found out that I "stole" a graham cracker from Ms. Brenda at school last week! It was in her pocket and I couldn't resist....It was really yummy :) So I made a deal with Ms. Brenda to get mom to buy me some of these tasty treats. She fell for it hook, line, and sinker! Although, Hunter thinks that when I eat, he should get to have some too!

Can you tell I like them lots and, I must say that it is SO MUCH FUN to make a mess when I eat too! You should see me in my highchair ;)

I gotta go try to find something else to get into now...

Until next time!

XOXO LUCAS

Nothing But Trouble!

POSTED 6/27/08

Well here is a funny one for your Friday! We heard about this little troublemaker last week from his teachers... Notice what his shirt says "Nothing But Trouble" :)

Lucas' teachers always tell us how good of a day he has had, what a great baby he is, how happy and playful he is, etc. Well last Friday I heard something a little different for the first time! They broke the news by saying, "tell mommy that I might not be moving around yet but I have figured out how to get into trouble!" So, naturally I asked what he had been up to...

Turns out he lures the other babies to him, they say they always flock to him to play by whatever means they can get there, scoot, crawl, etc. Then he gets excited and grabs on to their hair with all of his might! Laughing and bouncing up and down... Oh Lucas, this is no way to make new friends!!! The teachers correct him and free the babies and he sits there laughing and squealing with delight :) They don't all cry or get upset, but they always seem to come back for more!

So I quickly thought, uh-oh where did he get that from?

Ummm...yeahh...that is what he has been doing all of the time with Hunter, Bailey, and Nala at home! Mystery solved. Now we just have to teach him the right way to play/pet.

It is a work in progress needless to say. He seems to be catching on but he got another helpless victim at school yesterday. Abbey is not a baby that I would want to mess with! She is big for a 10 month old, like 1 1/2 of the rest of the babies around his age plus she has a head of pretty WILD dark hair. Sorry Abbey, I bet you will get him back once you guys move up to the next room! You better watch your back little Lucas! :)

Outside for some fun.....

Posted Tuesday 7/1/08
We took these last weekend as we romped outside for awhile, letting Daddy heal ;) I tried to load new pictures from this past weekend but it was not working last night, I'll try again tonight!

Lucas loved watching Bailey play football (she is completely OCD with this thing, way worse than any baby with a pacifier) and playing in the grass!
He turned it into a game, pulling as much of it up as he could get his hands on....

and his mouth! :)

It is so amazing to watch him take in new things all of the time. He is completely enthralled in every new object, sound, motion that he captures. There is truly nothing better than being a mommy and he is such a wonderful little angel!!! I thank God every day for these two wonderful men in my life :)

Goodbye Maggie... Daddy has a nasty bug!

We bid a fond farewell to our house guest, Maggie the dog Saturday since Dad/Grandpa Sexton came home from Germany last Thursday. He went on a fantastic 10 day trip with the Germanna Historical Society. Our family roots trace back to Germany and they actually got to visit many of the villages and small towns where our ancestors lived! We can't wait to see pictures :) He had a great trip and stayed so busy all day long that his immune system took a beating and he ended up with a nasty sinus infection that took him down the last day in Germany and the day he came home. He picked up Maggie Saturday morning and seemed to be getting better with the antibiotics. We thoroughly enjoyed Maggie's stay as always! Hunter, Bailey, and Lucas loved having her around to play with!!! :)

Well this weekend was not at all what we had originally planned! Todd had been fighting some kind of bug on and off now for a few weeks. But Friday night things got much worse! The doc was concerned about blood work (elevated liver enzymes) he had checked the previous week so they brought him back in for more testing Friday. Not so good stuff- Hepatitis and mono. :( All turned out to be negative :) Good news!

Well, he still felt horrible and actually got much worse the remainder of the weekend. His head was constantly spinning (very dizzy) and a horrible headache, both of which made him extremely nauseous and sick :( We had plans with several good friends this weekend that we had to put on hold, and even our usual Sunday trip to church was skipped! By Sunday afternoon I had cleaned the house from top to bottom and Lucas and I needed a change of scenery so we went shopping for a little while to let daddy get some peaceful rest. We did get him a new pillow :) I wish I would have had the camera during bath time that night because he was a crazy baby! :) Splashing water EVERYWHERE, it was completely intentional and he got such a kick out of it, me laughing at him also egged it on I am sure! I think I used more of the towel to dry the floor and wall then I did on him :)

So after a weekend in bed for Todd and lots of mommy & Lucas bonding time without daddy we were back at the doctor's office yesterday AM. We just showed up there as soon as they opened hoping they could do something for Todd. He was scheduled for an ultrasound of his abdomen later on that AM at St. Mary's to double check his liver. I don't think they were too happy but we were out of options short of the ER and we wanted to avoid that if possible! They noticed alot of fluid in his inner ear and thought it might be viral, so off we went with some nose spray antihistamine. Off to St. Mary's! After another long wait Todd's ultrasound was through and all looked great. He was ready to head home by this point....BUT.....
Lucas had been tugging on his ears quite a bit at home and at "school" (daycare), last time this was going on he had ear infections without other symptoms like a fever, etc. So I figured, why not, I am already out and off work for the day, let's go to another Dr's office! So we trekked back to Mechanicsville to pick him up and headed BACK to the West End of Richmond for Lucas' Dr's appt. After 14 minutes we were checked in, seen, and on our way home to King William, FINALLY! So a $25 copay went towards a very clean bill of health for the little man and we learned that he should have at least one pearly white, if not two, within the next 7-10 days! :) Glad to hear that he was healthy though, he just really likes to play with his ears ;) I will go with my gut instinct from here on out, not the advice of others!!!
So that in a nutshell (well not really, it was rather lengthy) was our weekend and Monday. Todd still feels crummy so please keep him in your thoughts and prayers! He started an antibiotic Tuesday night and is also taking Dramimine for the dizziness/motion sickness. Check back later for more- I have some really cute Lucas stories and pictures to share.... ;)

Here is the dynamic duo lounging after a hard play session outside! :)

Our first post!

Well it is about time!?! I have been saying that I was going to do this for MONTHS now and I finally sat down and made it happen!!! A couple of our good friends have these blogs to help friends and family stay in touch with their day to day lives since we don't see each other all of the time. So I have to join in and steal the idea as well :) I am going to try and update it a few times a week so be sure to check back often! Who knows what we will have in store for your reading/viewing pleasure....

We celebrated Todd's birthday (he is getting up there ;) just joking honey, love you!!!! ) Tuesday by venturing out for dinner. We really wanted to go somewhere nice BUT since we are out in King William it takes a little while to get to the nicer restaurants now! So since we had to take care of the pups and keep Lucas on his fantastic schedule, Mechanicsville it was! Todd chose Cracker Barrel for the short wait, pretty decent food, quick service...
I wish we would have taken the camera cause Lucas was too cute! This was his first experience sitting in a highchair out. He got sooo excited the minute he was strapped in and pulled up to the table. We gave him his toys and he went to town. He is such a little flirt! I think he tried to get the attention of every lady sitting anywhere near him, and he accomplished just that. The sweet woman next to us must have picked up his toys 10 times! And I'm telling you, he dropped them methodically right next to her :) She loved every minute of it though. Both Todd and Lucas loved the food, like father like son. :) I turned around for a second and Lucas' hand was in my pile of green beans! So we shared my green beans, mashed potatoes, and cornbread. He LOVED it all, not so much the pureed sweet potatoes we brought for him to eat. Looks like he would rather have the real stuff vs. that baby food, at least with us. He eats great at "school" :) Actually he has been dubbed the "eating machine" around there! So much for that little baby!
Since I didn't have the camera out that night I attached a picture of him eating a leftover cornbread muffin yesterday. We went home and gave Todd his gifts and relaxed the rest of the evening, all in all I think he had a great birthday! We are going to go out with some friends this weekend to continue the celebration hopefully. Todd has had some kind of bug this past week or so that he can't seem to get rid of .
Hopefully a good, restful weekend is in store! Hope you have a great one! :)
