We bid a fond farewell to our house guest, Maggie the dog Saturday since Dad/Grandpa Sexton came home from Germany last Thursday. He went on a fantastic 10 day trip with the Germanna Historical Society. Our family roots trace back to Germany and they actually got to visit many of the villages and small towns where our ancestors lived! We can't wait to see pictures :) He had a great trip and stayed so busy all day long that his immune system took a beating and he ended up with a nasty sinus infection that took him down the last day in Germany and the day he came home. He picked up Maggie Saturday morning and seemed to be getting better with the antibiotics. We thoroughly enjoyed Maggie's stay as always! Hunter, Bailey, and Lucas loved having her around to play with!!! :)
Well this weekend was not at all what we had originally planned! Todd had been fighting some kind of bug on and off now for a few weeks. But Friday night things got much worse! The doc was concerned about blood work (elevated liver enzymes) he had checked the previous week so they brought him back in for more testing Friday. Not so good stuff- Hepatitis and mono. :( All turned out to be negative :) Good news!
Well, he still felt horrible and actually got much worse the remainder of the weekend. His head was constantly spinning (very dizzy) and a horrible headache, both of which made him extremely nauseous and sick :( We had plans with several good friends this weekend that we had to put on hold, and even our usual Sunday trip to church was skipped! By Sunday afternoon I had cleaned the house from top to bottom and Lucas and I needed a change of scenery so we went shopping for a little while to let daddy get some peaceful rest. We did get him a new pillow :) I wish I would have had the camera during bath time that night because he was a crazy baby! :) Splashing water EVERYWHERE, it was completely intentional and he got such a kick out of it, me laughing at him also egged it on I am sure! I think I used more of the towel to dry the floor and wall then I did on him :)
So after a weekend in bed for Todd and lots of mommy & Lucas bonding time without daddy we were back at the doctor's office yesterday AM. We just showed up there as soon as they opened hoping they could do something for Todd. He was scheduled for an ultrasound of his abdomen later on that AM at St. Mary's to double check his liver. I don't think they were too happy but we were out of options short of the ER and we wanted to avoid that if possible! They noticed alot of fluid in his inner ear and thought it might be viral, so off we went with some nose spray antihistamine. Off to St. Mary's! After another long wait Todd's ultrasound was through and all looked great. He was ready to head home by this point....BUT.....
Lucas had been tugging on his ears quite a bit at home and at "school" (daycare), last time this was going on he had ear infections without other symptoms like a fever, etc. So I figured, why not, I am already out and off work for the day, let's go to another Dr's office! So we trekked back to Mechanicsville to pick him up and headed BACK to the West End of Richmond for Lucas' Dr's appt. After 14 minutes we were checked in, seen, and on our way home to King William, FINALLY! So a $25 copay went towards a very clean bill of health for the little man and we learned that he should have at least one pearly white, if not two, within the next 7-10 days! :) Glad to hear that he was healthy though, he just really likes to play with his ears ;) I will go with my gut instinct from here on out, not the advice of others!!!
So that in a nutshell (well not really, it was rather lengthy) was our weekend and Monday. Todd still feels crummy so please keep him in your thoughts and prayers! He started an antibiotic Tuesday night and is also taking Dramimine for the dizziness/motion sickness. Check back later for more- I have some really cute Lucas stories and pictures to share.... ;)
Here is the dynamic duo lounging after a hard play session outside! :)
